Our Story

Water Street Design Associates, led by Principal David A Noyes, Jr. (DJ), continues the tradition of design excellence established by Peter Cummin of Cummin Associates, Inc. – Landscape Architecture and Site Planning. Focused on keeping our core team intact, Brian Chandler, a long-tenured Senior Landscape Architect at Cummin Associates, and Lily Clift also joined WSDA to collectively continue servicing our committed and highly-discerning clientele.

Our projects are spread across the country and abroad; ranging in size from intimate courtyard gardens to private estates of several hundred acres. Regardless of scale or budget, the same high level of design discipline, commitment, and focus are applied to each project in order to achieve thoughtful and creative landscapes for our clients. Our combined multi-disciplinary experience and common core principles enable us to be adaptive to a multitude of design styles. We embrace the “Design Team” concept of collaboratively working with Architects, Interior Designers, Contractors, Engineers, and other Consultants. Our gardens are inherently sensitive to their locations and evolve from a direct response to the building architecture, native conditions, and project scope with which we are presented.

WSDA is highly-focused on design details, material selections, and overall aesthetic, which continues to define our value to our projects. The function, performance, and long-term success of our designs are critical to us meeting our clients’ needs and expectations.
